Sasha Ashwini
Professional Dance Artist & Instructor
Earth-Body Praxis is led by a Bharatanatyam practitioner and contemporary dance artist whose work is rooted in lineage, lived experience, and embodied inquiry.
Her artistic lineage includes her paternal grandfather, Perumal Singamuthu, a Carnatic musician from Tanjore, Tamil Nadu, whose devotion to the traditional arts formed an early foundation for artistic practice and performance. She remains a disciple of the acclaimed Bharatanatyam danseuse Rama Vaidyanathan, whose artistry is widely regarded for its spiritual depth and ability to bridge tradition with transcendent experience.
She holds an MFA in Dance and a BSc in Behavioural Neuroscience, and her teaching weaves classical form, contemporary somatic practice, and seasonal attunement. Through Earth-Body Praxis, she offers a grounded, respectful pathway into embodied wisdom—supporting regulation, ritual rhythm, and the remembering of the divine feminine through the body.

No. This practice is not a formal Bharatanatyam class. However, it is designed to support those who are interested in studying Bharatanatyam in the future, as well as those returning to the form after a long break, by offering foundational conditioning, grounding, and embodied preparation. The most effective way to formally learn Bharatanatyam is through in-person instruction.
